Girls Soccer
The Normans girls’ soccer team finished 4-6-4 in league and overall 8-11-3. Despite of the league standing, rebuilding the program to the next level has begun. The girls walked off the field with their heads held high, we proud of what they had accomplished this season. Senior Arielle Harris and Shayna Stein finished their career as 1st team Ocean League award winners and Seniors Jessica Karpiak and Leili Hashemi earn their 2nd team Ocean League award. The graduating seniors left a foundation to the next generation for success and the girls’ soccer program will continue to push for its ultimate goal; A CIF championship. The girls’ soccer program thanks the BHAAA for their support.

Girls Water Polo
This season the girls’ water polo team welcomed a new coach and over 15 new players. The team took home a third place trophy at the Western Tournament and also beat Torrance High School for the first time in the last four years. The leading scorers on the variety team were the team captains, Allie Kahn and Ivana Zelalic. Allie Kahn also earned Second Team All-Ocean League honors. Locking down at defense in goalie position was sophomore Ada Nadzakova. The team unfortunately did not have access to the Beverly Hills pool but that did not stop the team from their hard work. Despite the inaccessibility of the pool, the team found alternatives and still managed to do their best. With continued hard work and dedication the team is expected to rapidly improve next year.

Boys Soccer
The boys' soccer team had a very challenging schedule in 2013/14 competing against 14 playoff bound schools. They lost to Division 1 CIF-Southern Section and California Regional Champion Loyola and Division 5 CIF-Southern Section Champion Animo Leadership. The team tied both defending Division 2 CIF Southern Section Champion and semi-finalist Warren and league rival and perennial powerhouse Santa Monica. The boys’ finished with an overall record of 8 wins, 12 losses and 3 ties and 4th place in the Ocean League. Senior Stopper Daniel Kahn was the team’s MVP. Both Kahn and senior Jacob Price were named to the Ocean League 1st team. Senior striker Phin Bauer was the team’s top scorer with 11 goals and was named to the Ocean League’s 2nd team along with junior midfielder Cole Offer. The team excelled in the classroom as the 14 seniors had an overall GPA of 3.73 and the team average was 3.67.

Wrestling
The BHHS Wrestling Team accomplished a record-breaking 2013-2014 season in which they placed 2nd overall (3-1) in the Pioneer League—their highest finish in team history. The Normans staged first-ever wins over league rivals Torrance and North Torrance, along with a pair of victories over arch-rival Santa Monica during the Westlake Warrior Duals. The team finished with a 6-1 overall Dual Meet record and qualified every member who participated at the League Tournament to the C.I.F. Southern Section Tournament. The Norman Wrestlers had several stand-outs, with multiple individual placements at various competitive tournaments including, Raven Castro, Bram Geiderman, David Prokopenko, Iman Dayani and Kyle Khalili. The team had a terrific showing at the C.I.F. Southern Section Tournament and qualified 3 Wrestlers for the second day—a difficult task considering an athlete must go 4-1 or 4-0 overall on the first day in order to return for the 2nd. Even more notable is that the team returns the majority of their lineup.

Girls Basketball
The Beverly Hills lady Norman's finished the season in third place in the Ocean League. The team made the play-offs and played Torrance High School in the first round. BH lost a tough game on the road at Torrance. Girls’ basketball finished with a 13-14 record over-all and 5-5 in the Ocean league. The Ocean league was tough this year with Culver City winning their division and Inglewood losing in the division final. Individual honors award went to three girls on the team; Natasha Allen and Natasha Kashani receiving All League 2nd team awards and Jessica Melamed receiving 1st team All-League honors. Jessica also won the MVP award for the 2013-14 basketball season with Natasha Allen winning all-defensive award. Shantel Kahrobee won the coaches award and Natasha Kashani won the all around award.

Boys Basketball
The Beverly Hills High School Varsity Basketball team had a great 2013-14 season. This year’s team played one of the toughest schedules put together in a long time. Out of 17 non league games, the Normans faced 13 teams who have been highly ranked in the state at some point of their season. The Normans basketball program also accomplished something that hasn’t been done in 34 years and that’s taking first place in the Ocean League. They finished 8-2 in league and were crowned the 2013-14 Ocean League Champions. Siavash Yektafar who was a 3 year varsity starter finished the year as the Ocean League Most Valuable Player. Jalen Sands was also named 1st Team all Ocean League and Trevor Bergher was named 2nd team Ocean League. Coach Turner and his program are extremely grateful for all of the support the community of Beverly Hills has shown his program. This support has helped the Beverly Hills Basketball Program grow and flourish.
